OBITUARY

We record with regret the deaths of Maurice Brown and John Foley Egginton.

Mr, Brown had been assistant traffic manager at Yorkshire Traction Co Ltd since April 1958. He joined Yorkshire Traction as a transport boy at 8s a week in October 1925, just before his 14th birthday.

Mr Egginton, of Sutton Coldfield, was one of the first solicitors to specialize in road transport law and he was well-established in this field before the 1933 Act became operative. For a time he was West Midland deputy LA. He was a member of the Institute of Traffic Administration and closely connected with the old Associated Road Operators. He and the late Scott Hall, the costs expert ("S.T.R." of Commercial Motor), were the only nonoperators present at Earls Court in September, 1937. when the National Conference of Express Carriers (now the Express Carriers group in the RHA) was launched.
