missioners at Eastbourne, on Tuesday, refused an application by Hastings Coachways Ltd. to run cheap, off-season, seven-day tours on five routes for people over the age of 55.
The chairman, Mr. H. J. Thom, in his summing-up after the two-day hearing, said the Commissioners could not allow abstraction from the large coach operators who were already running unrernunerative services, especially in country areas. The applicants, said Mr. Thom, had put up a fairly weak case, because the Commissioners would not consider making it a condition of a licence that passengers carried should be over 55.
