in a British Standard (M28) which has just been published by the British Standards Institution, 2 Park Street, London, W.1. There are four recommended sizes; all are 88 in. wide and are 5 ft., 7 ft., 9 ft. and 10 ft. long respectively..
The sizes have been established primarily to suit as wide a range of cargocarrying aircraft as possible, to facilitate international traffic, but at 7 ft. 4 in. wide they should fit in reasonably well with road vehicle needs.
As well as sizes, the standard describes in detail the design, construction and payload rating and deals with the identification marking of pallets.
