Tipper Men Meet

A S the result of a meeting between the rt Scottish R.H.A. tipper group, the Fife and District Tipper Operators Association and certain tipper operators in the Northern traffic area, held in Newcastle upon Tyne last week, it was agreed that information and advice would be passed to the Northern operators by the successful Scottish groups.

The Scottish delegation, under the chairmanship of Mr. Edward Hemphill, was invited to visit the Northern operators after an initial meeting held at Stirling in June.. Mr. R. Wilson, chairman of the Fife group, who addressed the meeting, said that if the public wanted a reliable service they must be prepared to pay reasonable rates in order that vehicles could be maintained in safe working order.

Simple and sensible means of costing were discussed and, it is understood, further information will be passed on to the Northern area operators to assist them.

Mr. Wilson urged the Northern opera

tors to "stand up and fight ". Operating tippers was a tricky trade and the operators deserved the respect of others, he said.

Chairman of the meeting was Mr. Bob Durham, R.H.A. Northern area chairman. The R,H.A. secretaries from the two areas, Mr. L. Stokoe and Mr, D. Le Conte, were present.
