Much of the steel has been supplied by the Bergische Stable Industrie Remscheid, Germany, which has supplied steel to the motor industry for many years. This German company claims to be the largest manufacturers of caststeel wheels of the hollow and solid-spoke types in Europe.

[1:30 The first thing to attract our attention on this stand will be the claim, proudly made by Englebert and Co., that its lubricants are used on many commercial motors of high-class reputation. The company reports that its lubricants have been tested on the machines made by Fodens, Aveling and Porter, and Commer cial Cars, and after exhaustive competitive tests have been declared to be amongst the most perfect of lubricants.

118] STEELS FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES. [11S If a rapid guess were to be made as to the most widely-known brand of steel used in chassis construction, many engineers would plump for " Ubas." In addition to samples of this product, however, on Stand 118, we shall have an opportunity to inspect specimens of special alloy steels, including nickel, nickel chrome and chrome vanadium, of which large quantities are used by some manufacturers.

Here we shall make a point of inspecting the gearbox with the wheels in motion which is lubricated with the well-known lubricant Ambroleum. At previous shows, particularly in the pleasure-car section, the tenacious nature of the lubricant used has created something of a sensation amongst visitors. Although there is no cover to the gearbox, and the speed of the shaft is 240 r.p.m., none of the lubricant is thrown from the box.
