The study by the European Parliament's Transport and Tourism Committee recommends a number of measures to curb truck crime. These include: • More security measures because the thieves often seem to know in advance what the targeted trucks contain.
• More safe and secure parking places because drivers are legally required to stop and rest at specific times.
• The creation of more international taskforces to combat the criminal organisations directly.
• Giving truck crime a higher political priority, nationally and internationally— including a more effective exchange of information between member states and police forces across the EU.
