Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

What are wages?

Wages include fees, shift allowances, bonuses, commission, holiday pay, guaranteed pay, sick pay and maternity pay.

Notice pay cannot be claimed as an unlawful deduction if an employee is sacked without notice. They will still be entitled to holiday pay and any bonuses or commission owed but no pay in lieu of notice. However, it is to be hoped that unless justified by gross misconduct on the employee's part, notice will be paid even in a summary dismissal.
