The article on cost-plus rates (CM10-16 January), should be read with caution.
It appears to be comparing Mr Cecil's gross profit of 27% with an assumed average of 5%. The latter is almost certainly a net profit and is in any event higher than most haulage-only companies are achieving. Sorry to put a damper on the picture. Brian H Fish, DFF International, Avonmouth, Bristol.
