• A truck driver with a sleeping disorder disregarded his doctor's advice to rest, fell asleep behind the wheel and killed a young couple in a head-on motorway collision, a court was told.

Paul Couldridge lost control of his vehicle on the M20 near Maidstone, Kent and smashed through the central reservation into an oncoming BMW. The jury at Maidstone Crown Court heard that the car was crushed under the force of the impact and its occupants, Stephen Williams and his fiancée Sheila Ryan died instantly.

Prosecutor Anthony Haycroft said Couldridge had no recollection of the accident.

He added that Couldridge w undergoing treatment from consultant for "excessi tiredness" and had admitt to his doctor o' falling asle at the wheel at least 15 tim before, he added.
