Hydraulic Aid to Loading

nESIGNED to speed up the handling of all hoppercarried materials, the JCR Loadall produced by J. C. Bamford (Excavators), Ltd., Lakeside Works, Rocester, Uttoxeter, Staffs, is available for fitting to Fordson Major or Nuffield tractors_ Maximum discharge height is 9 ft., whilst the forward reach at this position is 2 ft. 6 in.

The sub-frame and arms are welded box-section steel pressings, and two in. diameter lifting rams are employed A feature of the hydraulic system is that oil is drawn from one side of the main support, through the subframe, to the rams and back to the reservoir, the increased circulation counteracting any tendency to overheating. A single hydraulic ram is used for the bucket crowd. Attachments include 1 or 11-cu.-yd. buckets and a loading platform.

The Loadall is being marketed solely through commercial-vehicle agents.

Loath-ouster 1100TC for U.K.

THE Chasesidc Loaxlmaster 800TC mobile shovel is now available on the home market. Produced by the Chaseside Engineering Co., Ltd., Station Works, Hertford, the machine was introduced in October last year, but has since been modified. A new square-edged scoop with manganese-steel toe-plate and teeth is used, whilst the driver's entry is now through the rear of the cab.

Rear-wheel, power-assisted steering is employed, giving a small turning circle of 12-ft. 8-in, radius to the outside circle. Fully powered crowd is provided, together with a 9,000-lb. pry-out force at the toe plate. The operative sits over the large front driving wheels and has allround vision.

As previously, the torque converter is fitted between the engine and standard clutch and gearbox of the transmission. Besides ensuring faster working cycles and avoiding stalling or labouring of the engine, the torque converter cushions shock loads and reduces general wear.

Safety Flooring A NON-SLIP floor coating has been produced by the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co., Ltd., 3M House, Wigmore Street, London. WI, known its Safety Walk. It can be supplied in cleats, strips and rolls, and consists of extremely hard mineral grains, surface-coated on a tough fabric said to be unaffected by oil, petrol or weather. High wear resistance is also claimed.

Three types are available, A, B and D. Type B is self-adhesive, whilst type A, also self-adhesive, is desirable for rough surfaces, such as concrete floors or where dust or moisture cannot he entirely eliminated at the time of laying. Type D is stated to be non-sparking and suitable for applications where there is a risk of explosion or fire.

Oil-engined Welding Set A N oil-engine powered arc-welding set, known as the type DEB.400U and providing characteristics similar to the MGB.400 (The Commercial Motor, September 13) has been introduced by Quasi-Arc, Ltd., Bilston, Staffs. Weight without undergear is 19 cwt. The apparatus is 4 ft. 2 in. long, 2 ft. 3 in. wide and 4 ft. 2 in. high. The

N.E.M.A. rating is 300 amp. D.C. at 40 arc volts, 60 per cent. duty cycle.

A Ford four-cylindered industrial oil engine is employed and has a capacity of 3.61 litres, with a rating of 40 b.h.p. at 1,500 r.p.m. A feature of the welding set is a fully automatic idling device. Pneumatically operated, it is arranged to slow the engine to idling speed automatically when welding is not in progress. A pre-set adjustable time delay prevents the engine from idling during short pauses in welding.

In its standard form the equipment is mounted on a four-wheeled pneumatictyred undergear for hand towing, but it can also be supplied mounted on brackets for stationary use, or on a twoor fourwheeled road towing undergear.

Lubrication Guns Improved THE Porn-Porn hand lubrication gun produced by Tecalemit, Ltd„ Plymouth, has been improved. The newdesign guns are now in production and available in two sizes having capacities of 5 oz. (type LP) and 31 oz. (type MP). They arc suitable for use with soft grease or heavy oil, and pressures of up to 5,000
