TWO0 tricycle-type goods vehicles are

produced by Moto Gilera s.p.a., the Italian motorcycle manufacturers. Both have single front wheels, the driving position being similar to that of a scooter with the smaller vehicle and a full-sized motorcycle with the larger machine.

The smaller vehicle has a payload rating of approximately 7 cwt. and it is powered by a single-cylindered aircooled four-stroke petrol engine of 200 c.c., which develops 8 b.h.p. The drive gees through a four-speed gearbox with hand-operated change mechanism and the rear' axle is a spiral-bevel unit. The model has a claimed maximum speed of 35 m.p.h. and it sells in Italy for about £210.

Road Transport Federation's competition, which calls for papers dealing with the advancement of road passenger transport, has been won by -Mr. TOM Furlonger, of Latrobe Valley Bus Lines, Yallourn.. The award was donated by Leyland Motors, Ltd.

Runner-up was Mr. George Shea, of Metro Buses . Pty., Ltd., Perth. who gained the £30 prize of the Olympic Tyre and Rubber Co., and the third asvard of £20, by the Vacuum Oil Co., Was won by Mr. G. Courley. of the Kogarah Bus Service. New South Wales.

INNER ROAD GRANT

AGRANT of over £232.000 has been made to Coventry City Conned by the Minister of Transport towards the cost, estimated at £310.000. of building the first section of an inner ring road in the city.

The central badly bombed area of Coventry is being replanned, and the new highway will enable traffic to avoid it. The first section will be + mile long and have two 24-ft.-wide carriageways_
