Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

drivers 1.5% more

• P&O Roadtanks says it will pay at least L5% more to its 600 UK drivers this year, but its 250 Continental-based drivers are likely to face a wage freeze.

The 250 maintenance, management and clerical staff are expected to get less than 2%.

P&O Roadtanks and P&O Tankmasters drivers at 19 sites will benefit from the company's customers making the "right noises" about rates increases.

Marketing development manager David Woolham says: "Margins are still not as good as they should be," but the company is "in a better position than it was 12 months ago".

Each P&O Roadtanks depot negotiates wages separately, but recent deals at Felling, near Gateshead and Hull are in line with 1.5% and have been backdated to 1 January.

The next site to settle is likely to be Stalinborough, near Immingham, where a similar rise is expected.
