Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

During the quarter ended the 31st December last, 11,705 licences to drive were issued by the London County Council under the Motor Car Act. Two hundred and eighty-one heavy motor vehicles were registered.

A general meeting of the members of the Metropolitan Steam Omnibus Co, Ltd., will be held at Electric Railway House, Broadway, Westminster, S.W.' on 14th March at 11 o'clock for the purpose of considering the liquidator's account showing the manner in which the winding up has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of.

Foden Repeat Order.

We learn that Messrs. Green and Son, of 182-4, High Street, Sutton, have just purchased another fiveton Foden wagon through Messrs. y. W. Berkeley and Co. of 39, Victoria Street, Westminster. This is another instance of the increased discovery by surburban haulage contractors of the necessity of adequate mechanical plant for their business.

L.G.O.C. 12 per cent.

Subject to the final audit of accounts, the directors of the London General Omnibus Co. have decided to recommend the payment of the following dividend: on the ordinary shares for the six months ended the 31st December, 1915, 6 per cent., making with the interim dividend of 6 per cent. already paid, a dividend for the year 1915 of 12 per cent. with £198,747 placed to reserve, and £23,237 forward.

The First Electric Tower Wagon.

The Edison electric-battery tower wagon which was delivered. to the Ilford Urban District Council towards the close of 1913 is officially reported to have given most satisfactory results. The tramways manager now desires the Council to purchase an electric two-ton wagon for permanent-way use. We believe that the tower wagon in question was the first battery-driven machine of its kind to be put into service on a British tramway system.

A ." Munition" Dance.

A dance and concert promoted by the commercial staff of the Austin Motor Co. (1911), Ltd.. is to be held on Saturday, 4th March, in the Grosvenor Room at the Grand .Hotel, Birmingham. c.40 Petrol Prices. The Latest.

Following the controversy as to the true inwardness of the upward movement in the price of petrol, we have received, since the publication of our last issue, the circular from the Asiatic Petroleum Co., Ltd., which purports to explain the position of that company, and to indicate its immediate intentions with regard to the maintenance of the prices which ruled before the rise of 4d. was announced by other concerns. We need not reproduce this in full. Suffice it to say that the company announces that it is supplying five times as much motor spirit for Government purposes as the whole of its competitors put together, and therefore " it cannot maintain the supply of the same large quantities to the public" as previously. It is hoped to maintain reasonable supplies of " Shell " spirit, and to continue to supply it at the old price of 2s. 2d. per gallon for the best brand "unless some very unexpected development occurs." The garages are to receive " at least one-third of the quantity of spirit which they have been accustomed to receive" from the company, and at the old price.
