Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

a trend set by Renault. It was already building the Renault AE (or Magnum), a cab-over that sported a cab with a totally flat floor. At the time, this design was revolutionary, with some calling it the Space Miracle. Since the Actros arrived, it has now reached its third generation. Fortunately, this high-datum cab retains its spaciousness, with the only disadvantage being that you have to climb four steps to get aboard. But once you're in, it's more than worth the effort.

The cab interior leaves nothing to be desired. It's very well designed, and that means it is driver friendly. The Actros constructors have used quality materials. The fridge drawer doubles as a tabletop, but a minus might he the fact that the fridge is very shallow, which allows imited space for big bottles or milk cartons.

You can't stand them fully upwards, you have to lay them down and take the risk that they might leak. On a more positive note, the way the fridge is constructed leaves space for a second sliding drawer underneath the bed.

In terms of interior design, the grey colour scheme obviously needs a complete overhaul.

Dull is the word here, and that goes for the dashboard set-up, too. It provides all the information you need. but the layout is starting to show its age.

The range of steering wheel adjustment is rather limited, and is in need of a rethink, as is the Powershift transmission which, unlike all the others, doesn't use the right-hand retarder/cruise control steering column stalk for manual shifting. You get familiar with the armrest shifting lay-out, but it takes getting used to driving an Actros.

If you are a fleet owner, your drivers really need some good and thorough instructions in order to avoid any costly mishaps.

On a brighter note, the Actros comes with a goodquaky large bunk, a perfect mattress, which has a superb slatted bottom.

The Merc handles well, and shows a lot of good driving characteristics.

The spacious interior is the icing on the cake.
