Licences lost • VED convictions led to the revocation of the licences of associated Peterborough operators Adrian Williams and Nene Valley Transport Services and a six-month disqualification for Williams. A bid for a new licence by AR Williams was withdrawn after its transport manager was unable to answer questions about the hours rules.
Tyre costs • Using a vehicle with a defective tyre cost McNicholas Construction Services £225 in fines and costs when it appeared before Wantage magistrates.
Convictions quashed
• Bristol Crown Court quashed the conviction of Birmingham-based Gly-nwedd Pipe Systems on eight out of 22 offences of permitting drivers to drive for more than 4.5 hours without taking a 45minute break. The firm had been fined £1,000 per offence.
No show • The licence held by Rotnford-based John Kiffin, trading as John Killin Haulage, was suspended when he failed to attend an Eastbourne disciplinary inquiry.
