We record with regret the death of Fred Baker, of T. Baker and Sons (Transport), of Tipton, West Midlands.
A member of the Road Haulage Association, Mr Baker represented Dudley on the RHA area and district committees from 1947 and was the longest serving member.
He was the founder member and chairman of the West Midland Training Group and only three days before his death he presided over its annual general meeting.
Mr Baker was a senior magistrate and wage negotiator and was well-known and respected throughout the transport industry.
