LEYLAND Truck and Bus revealed a big shake-up in its organisation this week in a bid to grab a bigger market share.

It is hoped that the new style Truck and Bus will be able to take better advantage of the high level of future investment which was recently announced.

Four distinct business divisions will begin operating from the New Year: the medium/light vehicle division; the heavy vehicle division; the passenger vehicle division and the parts division.

Each will be responsible for its own profitability within Truck and Bus and be controlled by general managers working within a policy framework laid down at group level.

The three vehicle divisions will also control their own quality, manufacturing, product engineering and service functions.

A separate engineering ser vices division will provide these three with effective engineering services on a group basis.

Mr D. H. Pitcher, group managing director, said: "After my initial assessment of Truck and Bus, the new organisation is considered to be more appropriate to the group's needs."

A high level of investment and increases in production would be required for further market penetration.
