• Eight new Gray & Adamsbodied Volvo FL618 reefers for Exel Logistics's contract with Whitbread Foods are the first vehicles to be covered by a deal which will lead to Dunlop tyres being fitted to the entire 3,000-plus Exel and BRS fleets.
• Bandag has added a dedicated trailer tread designated BTR (E) to its Eclipse System range of pre-cure contour treads. Unlike the "kinked" design used by other specialists, the BTR (E) looks symmetrical with straight ribs and grooves: it is claimed to generate low noise levels.
• Truckman has introduced the Protecta range for Ford Transit vans, comprising load liners, side-wall protectors, partitions and wheelbox covers that incorporate storage boxes. The moulded components are fitted without drilling and guaranteed for eight years; there is a matching range of nudge bars and lamp protectors. Prices start at £240 for the SWB load liner.
• Faber Prest subsidiary Otis Transport Services has won the Paccar delivery contract to deliver stock orders weekly to Foden's 60 UK dealers. To support the service Otis is adding two new Foden 4325 tractors with 13.7m Don-Bur stepped Palletmaster curtainsiders to its fleet.
• The Mayflower Corporation has acquired Scottish bus bodybuilder Walter Alexander For £28m. Walter Alexander joins Motor Panels and IAD in Mayflower's automotive portfolio,
