Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QUBSCRIPTIONS are to be raised by the Institute of Transport with effect from October 1. Members and associates will pay £5 5s. a year, associate members £3 3s. and graduates and students £1 1 Is. 6d. This applies to members and others in the United Kingdom and Ireland (excluding fe-r the present any on retired rate). Rates for other members are to be reviewed during the ensuing year.

Awards for papers submitted during the 1955-56 session and successes in the Institute's 1956 examinations have been made as follows:—

British Transport Commission awards, Mr. C. S. Dunbar for his paper on rural passenger transport; Mr. F. L. Hick, British Railways; Mr. D. .D. N. Graham, Western Welsh Omnibus Co.. Ltd., for his paper, "Selling Omnibus Travel; and Mr. A. E. Yen, Liverpool port labour office.

Road Transport (Passenger) Medal, Mr. T. Robert Williams, British Electric Traction Co., Ltd., for his paper on the future of road passenger transport.

Institute 1944 Award, Lt.-Col. D. R. Stenhouse, Royal Engineers, for his paper on Army transport.

Associate Membership Examination, first prize to Mr. P. B. Brokerishire, Malayan Railways, and second prize to Mr. T. C. Thomas, BR.

Awards will be presented by the president at the inaugural meeting of the 1956-57 session of the Institute to he held on October 8 in the Jarvis Hall, Royal Institute of British Architects, 66 Portland Place, London, W.1.
