Price: £47 10s. ex works. Second Check on Fuel AN accurate record of the amount of fuel supplied to a vehicle is given by the Fuel Input Meter developed and shortly to be marketed by Metro! Ltd. The device, which is fitted in the fuel tank, also indicates the contents at any time and will be valuable in providing an up-to-date check on fuel consumption and on fuel purchases away from company depots.

The meter has a cylindrical body which fits into a 35-in.diameter hole in the top of the fuel tank. Above the body— and protruding some 4 in. outside the tank—is a casting containing two counters behind toughened-glass windows. One counter shows the total quantity of fuel actually put into the tank, the other the contents of the tank at the time. The mechanism to the recorders is actuated by a float in the main body of the device, the entry of fuel into the body being past a special valve which prevents a false reading being caused by fuel surge. Anti-siphoning devices are available for fitting to the tank.

All shapes and types of fuel tank can be fitted with the Metrol meter, although initially models for square or rectangular tanks will be concentrated on. Already designed arc units for a range of eight fuel tanks as fitted to many Commer, Bedford, B.M.C., Thames and Dodge chassis. Tests carried out with prototypes on a B.M.C. and a Commer vehicle have shown the Metrol meter to be accurate within 3 per cent, but production meters will have improved calibration to make the error negligible Makers: Metro! Ltd., 7 Heath Green, Heath and Reach, Leighton Buzzard, Beds.

Prices: From £9 9s. to £16 16s., according to depth and shape of fuel tank and quantity ordered.
