CM COVER STORY MAN WILL REVEAL its concept for the most aerodynamic* efficient tractor unit next week at the IAA Show in Hannover.
The aerodynamics of MAN Concept S were "rigorously adiusted in the wind tunnel in order to achieve extremely low wind resistance, corresponding to that of a modern passenger limousine".
With an appropri
ately modified trailer* Concept S uses up to 25% less fuel than a comparable, conventional 4D-tonne semi-trailer tractor unit, MAN claims. The manufacturer notes that for Concept S to realise 'As full efficiency potential, "tractors and trailers will have to become longer if they are going to provide the accustomed -0, amount of interior space and
loading volume''.
