Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

remit, Malcolm Jepson should know a thing or two about waste disposal. As southern region quality assurance and technical manager for Volvo franchise MC Truck & Bus, he's one of Tanker Waste Kent's biggest customers.

`'We have a standing order with Tanker Waste," Jepson explains. "My three biggest sites, at Thurrock, Maidstone and Southampton, each have 12-15bay workshops and generate about 10 barrels of waste oil, 2,000 gallons of coolant and two 12m3 skips of mixed waste per month."

Tanker Waste also collects batteries, brake and clutch fluid from these sites.

'It provides special containers for segregating different types of waste and collects at regular intervals', says Jepson, The batteries still have some scrap value, but all this does is offset slightly the cost of disposing of the rest of the waste, "It used to cost us nothing to get rid of waste oil until a couple of years ago, but now it's 2.80 a barrel." Jepson calculates that MC Truck & Bus spends about 218,000 a year on waste disposal,
