Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

manage a fleet of around 70 vehicles, including a variety of vans and buses. Higher clerical officer in the Transport Services department, Steven Limmer, says they've had the software for two years, starting off with a single, standalone machine and more recently networked for multiple user access, "We find it has a good range of uses," he reports. "Particularly for benchmarking and recording the fleet in terms of costs, for example, where it really helps keep us on track. With some vehicles, we've found the service costs are higher than the vehicles are really worth..."

Although he'd ideally like to be able to integrate T3 with his current fuel management system, Limmer says there isn't much else missing from it as far as he's concerned: "It's a very user friendly system and I'd say it's very good value for money. We certainly get our usage out of it. It brings us everything we need and has been a real boon to the office," Overall, he gives the software rune out of 10 "I think it's a great package," he concludes.

Paul Chilton, transport operations manager at the London Borough of Bromley, uses T3 to help him manage a 150-strong fleet of plant, cars, vans, trucks and trailers that includes gritters, minibuses, panel vans, a mobile library and even the Mayor's Rolls Royce.

Chilton brought T3 in over three years ago after previous experience of a larger Tranman system in another job and despite the fact that another fleet management package had been purchased by the council for around £1,100 just 12 months prior to his arrival. "The old software was so restrictive," says Chilton. "We couldn't even get a fleet list out of it and if you wanted to generate a report you had to get the software supplier to do it for you!"

T3 is a lot easier to use and more versatile, he says although he mentions one or two shortcomings. In particular, Chilton feels there are relatively few options to tailor screen layouts. "I was used to a more sophisticated Tranman system from before and the ability to change screen layouts is limited with T3, though that is only to be expected in an entry-level system," Some of the f ield lengths in T3 have also proved too short for his use: "It's one limitation I thought wasn't that goodI like to be able to stretch the fields a bit."

Apart from this, there is little to complain about though Chilton does recommend buying the additional Crystal report writer. "It brings it all to life," he says. "If you look at the report writer in the system itself there's not that much it can do and it all looks a bit complicated." Overall, however, he likes T3 and gives it a thumbs-up rating of eight out of 10: "I think we came in very well with this. We haven't looked back since we got It."
