Citroen has unveiled its updated Relay range for the 2000 model

year, together with reduced prices on many variants. There are also detail changes to the lighter van ranges.

The major change to the Relay is the revised interior. The old model's dash was beginning to show its age, being frequently criticised for its gloomy ambience. It now has a brighter twotone grey dashboard and new instruments, including a rev counter, with a fashionable blue background. More supportive seating has trim to match the dash, and there's a large storage compartment under the drivers seat.

A roof binnacle includes a

digital clock and a more powerful interior light, and tinted windows are now standard. Visibility is improved by larger twin-lens door mirrors and better side window demisting.

Mechanical changes are limited to a transponder-activated engine immobiliser and a new front anti-rot bar. Access to the load space, which also gains more powerful lighting, is improved by a redesigned rear bumper with integral full width step. The previous optional glazed bulkhead has dropped in price to £220 and is joined by an unglazed version at £150, The cost of the optional drivers airbag has dropped to £220 and ABS to £500, while airconditioning joins the options list for Relay 1400 and 1800 models at £500. Despite the upgraded specification, many versions have lower prices by between £350 and £500, with the entry level Relay 1000 SWB pitched at z11,760 (all ex-VAT).

• Berlingos now get tinted glass as standard and the option of a passenger airbag with keyoperated de-activation. The Dispatch also gets tinted glass, new seats with more support, and taller head restraints,

Where central locking is specified, it now comes with high-frequency remote control. Even the C15 Champ hasn't been forgotten, with a new £200 option of silver metallic paint.

All the light van range prices remain unchanged.
