DURING the year ended March 31, 1938, the motorbuses of Newcastleupon-Tyne Corporation were operated at a profit of £52,707, total revenue having amounted to £224,946 and working expenses to £172,239. After providing £18,653 for loan charges, etc., the net surplus came out at £34,054. During the year the motorbuses covered 4,149,928 miles and carried 29,062,728 passengers.

So far as trolleybuses are concerned, the total revenue was £143,821, and working expenses totalled 283,171, so that the working profit amounted to £60,650. After providing a contribution of £7,517 towards tramways loan charges s and income tax, the net surplus was £49,022. The trolleybuses covered an aggregate mileage of 1,741,284, and carried 25,037,350 passengers in the year.
