Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As an owner-driver, I read with interest the problems your reader Kurt Hutchinson had with his Renault Magnum (CM 9-15 October). In May 1996 I bought an R340 from Renault Trucks, Birmingham. This soon developed a fault in the engine which my local depot, Renault Trucks Glasgow, tried, unsuccessfully, to resolve.

I eventually contacted the director of aftersales at Renault VI, Dunstable, explaining my problems. A meeting was then arranged in Glasgow which the field service manager from Dunstable attended.

A solution was quickly agreed and the work was soon successfully carried out, to my advantage. In your article a Renault source is quoted as saying, "Renault bent over backwards to help him." I can only say that this was exactly what Renault VI did for myself! I was treated courteously at all times and kept fully informed of the work carried out. I was also given a vehicle at no charge, until my own vehicle was totally repaired to my satisfaction.

Owing to the service I received from Renault VI, I felt it only fair I write in support of them. I am sure that if Mr Hutchinson had given the team at Dunstable a chance, a solution would have been reached to his advantage.
