Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A new, all-metal fastener has been developed by USM Corporation. It has greatly improved performance characteristics over previous all-metal types, the manufacturers claim.

A prevailing-torque selflocking type. Torq-Thred fasteners are produced by a thread rolling process using standard dies modified by a new technique. The process forms screw threads on the fastener that, when assembled, clamp the flanks of the opposing threads in the mating part with a spring action that prevents loosening due to vibration.

It is claimed that Torq-Thred have already been specified by US vehicle makers for several critical applications where selflocking fasteners are required by law.

They are said to be ideal for assembling any product subject to vibration.
