Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

41-seater coach, all of which are engaged on school contract work with the odd private trip. Could you supply the answers to the following questions regarding drivers' hours? AII my drivers are part-timers.

(1) Do they, or I. need to keep a record of hours?

(2) How many hours can they drive?

(3) How many hours can I drive, being general odds-body, the rest of the day?

(4) If a driver starts his route at or near his home in the morning, leaves his bus at the school and returns to his home in a private car, returning in the afternoon to the school in the car and working the bus back to the end of the route (which in two cases is the driver's home) and keeping the bus there overnight, do the car hours count?

(5) The local Young Farmers' Club wants to attend the annual rally and dance, which is about 21 hours drive, making a total of 5 hours there and back. Since the rally starts at 10 am and the dance finishes at 2 am the following day, this would mean starting at 7.30 am and returning to the depot at about 4.30 am the following day. Can one driver do this?

AThe answers you require are as follows:

11) You do not have to keep statutory records of the hours worked on these passenger vehicles—though you might find it advisable to keep some records in case of queries being raised later.

(2) Your drivers can drive for 10 hours a day within a working day of not more than 11 hours. The maximum continuous period of driving is limited to 51 hours, which must be followed by a break of not less than a half hour.

(3) Your own daily driving time is also restricted to 10 hours and your working day is restricted to 11 hours.

(4) The car driving hours would appear to be working hours and as such they count towards the daily total of 11 hours.

(5) You will need two drivers for this particular function. The maximum concession is one 16-hour day once per week provided that none of the previous working days in that week exceeded 14 hours. Time taken by a driver for rest on a 16-hour working day must be not less than the time by which his working day exceeds 10 hours, and must include a period of four hours' continuous rest,
