Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ASPEED-UP in "repairs and maintenance work by the retail motor trade in Yorkshire will result, it is hoped, from steps which are being taken under the auspices of the Yorkshire Division of the Motor Agents' Association. This move forms a first stage in a voluntary scheme for the concentration of industry, adopted by the Yorkshire Division in anticipation of the application of such a scheme to the retail motor trade generally.

It is felt that the trade's efficiency in the repair and maintenance of vehicles —chiefly commercial motors now

adaya can be increased, whilst. the closing down of garage businesses can,

at the same time, hey minimized, if firms whose capacity is considerably exceeded by the calls made upon their plant and staffs pass-some of this work to those who are able to undertake more jobs with their present staffs. It is aimed, therefore, to bring into contact the firms in ihese two categories.

Under the scheme, each local M.A.A. Section in the Division is being invited to set up its own sub-committee for local operation of the administrative machinery, under the general -guidance of a special divisional committee.

When the latter held its first meeting last week it learned that of the 900 questionnaire forms which had been sent out tc,test reaction to the idea of a voluntary concentration scheme, 550 had been filled up and returned to divisional headquarters.

The committee -decided that the number and nature of the replies fully justified proceeding with the scheme, and the same day it had an interview with officials of the Ministry of War Transport, at the Regional Transport Commissioner's headquarters in Leeds. No information as to what transpired is available, but it is gathered that the M.A.A. representatives were given a sympathetic reception.
