Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A T the first ordinary meeting of the -CI-Institute of Transport held in London on Monday of last week, the retiring president, Mr. Roger T. Smith, inducted his successor !.n the presidential chair, Air Vice-Marshal Sir W. Sefton Brancker, and distributed the premium awards for the year 19271928.

The road transport gold medal was awarded and presented to Major C. H. Kuhne, D.S.O., 0.B.E., for his paper on "Military Transport Vehitles, Recent 'Developments and Their Commercial Significance," whilst the road transport (passenger) gold medal was awarded and presented' to Mr. I G. Wyndham Shire, of the Birmingham

and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., for his paper on "The Use and Maintenance of Pneumatic Tyres as Applied to Commercial Vehicles."

Sir Sefton Branckner's presidential address was a masterly survey of the present position of air transport. His views on the possibilities of co-operation between air transport and land and water services were quite illuminating, and they open up the prospect of a continuous journey over long distances in which the aeroplane will be used during the hours of daylight and either the railway or the steamship during the night hours, thus making continuous movement possible without adversely affecting the passenger's health.
