Warehousing helps boost Boughey Distribution's turnover and profit

CHESHIRE FIRM Boughey Distribution, part of the NWF Group, says that filling its warehousing to capacity helped boost its turnover by 21% during the financial year ending 31 May 2006.

Turnover was £28m: pre-tax profit rose from £238,000 to if .4m.

Boughey Distribution MD Keith Forster explains: "We're involved in more than just haulage. A large part of our business is warehousing and towards the middle of the year we filled all our warehousing which put the cream on top of the milk ?

However, the latest rise in the minimum wage and higher vehicle prices are affecting the company's bottom line. Forster adds.

The rise in the minimum wage affects our warehouse staff:and it's a big issue." he reports.

Operating profit rose from £346,000 to 11.54m for the year. The company's directors describe the results and prospects for the future as "satisfactory".
