• Newmarket-based Derek Cooper (Transport) reports that it is achieving previously unmatched tread life with Michelin XDEI drive axle tyres.

Traffic manager Graham Plume says: "Cooper's detailed fleet records show that not only are the 4x2 Volvo FL1Os and their matching triaxle tanks returning excellent productivity, they are showing unprecedented tyre cost savings, most notably on the airsprung drive axles."

Plume continues: "One of the FLIOs recorded a 'first life' of 319,074km on its four XDEls before the treads were regrooved. They then ran for a regrooved second life of 86,090km, bringing the pre-remould tyre life up to 405,164km."
