• Ford is developing a Courier pickup but, according to Ford's commercial vehicles manager Mike Platts, the high-cube van based vehicle will not be sold in the UK. Continental buyers will get a high payload Courier. however.
Ford has been wary of overlap with the lighter Escort van, but since the Escort range was slimmed down earlier this year the option has apparently been given the green light. To compete with models such as the Renault Extra 775 and Vauxhall Combo, the Courier will have a payload of around 775kg.
