Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Transport and General Workers Union general-secretary Bill Morris is calling for a comprehensive review of Britain's transport requirements to find solutions to the problems of congestion and environmental destruction.

Speaking at the Transport & Distribution Manager of the Year awards, Morris spoke of a consultative forum which could speak up for transport and "get rid of the image of the industry as a national nuisance".

"The transport industry must be willing to find solutions to these problems," he said. "The responsibility falls on us. We cannot leave sustainable economic development and environmental protection to those outside the transport industry—we must demonstrate our commitment."

Ian Smith of Newton Abbotbased Ferrylink won the Transport & Distribution Manager of the Year award.
