• United Transport, the contract distribution arm of BET, has announced "unexciting" half-year profits of £4.6m—down from £5.9m—despite increasing turnover by 10% to £127m.
However, BET Distribution's Ernie Patterson says the company is concentrating on expanding United's existing bulk and container tanker businesses as part of a strategy of organic growth. Recent contract wins include Shell and Fina Petroleum, and chocolate producer LesmeCallibaut.
UT now handles 25% of Milk Marque's distribution business, a contract worth £19m annually.
