INLESS there is an immediate improvement in the labour position, services at peak periods will have to be restricted. Wolverhampton Transport Committee has reported. The sickness rate among drivers and conductors has reached an Unprecedented height and absences in September represented 727 work-days lost. The general manager of the transport undertaking has stated that there was an 8-per-cent. shortage cif essential staff and that at least 50 additional drivers and conductors could be engaged at once. Other Midland municipal undertakings are experiencing similar difficulties, notably those of Walsall and Coventry.

NEW C.A.V. LAMPS ON TITANS AND TIGERS

Royal Tiger, Olympic and Comet 90 vehicles already comely with the regulations, but a slight adjustment will be required in heavy-duty goods models. C.A.V. Type V.S.107 head lamps will be fitted as standard to Titan and Tiger vehicles. This new lamp has a 7-in. diameter, with a block lens and a prefocused double-filament bulb. It is also designed to take an international light unit of the sealed-beam type popular in America.

A FLEXIBLE PIPE-LINE COUPLING

A MEANS for introducing flexibility into a fuel pipe-line is to be found in the new Wipac Flexlink, which is a 3-in, length of armoured neoprene. To insert the Flexlink. the fuel pipe is cut and each end of the pipe is slightly chamfered. After smearing a little grease over the pipe ends, the Flexlink is 'Imbed on the respective ends for a distance of about 17 in. The fitting is flexible in all directions and proof against all fuels in general use. The armouring gives the neoprene protection against abrasian. The Flexlinic submitted to'" The Commercial Motor" was of asize suit able for pipes of diameter. The supplier is the Wico-Pacy Sates Corporation, Ltd., Denbigh Road, Bletchley, Bucks.
