Schmitz Cargobull UK, which is selling the reefer, has brought the trailer back from an operator after a three-year operating lease through Cargobull Finance.
The trailer, one of two on offer, is a single compartment design with 2.5m internal height, and is chilled by a Thermo King SLX 200 refrigeration unit that has clocked 3,000 engine hours. It runs on SAF axles, Alcoa wheel rims and disc brakes.
Schmitz will remove the decals and leave a plain white body. The firm has priced the semi-trailer at £29,000 (plus VAT).
Throughout the new-build semi-trailer market, manufacturers have seen demand for more specific trailers like reefers remain consistent while sales of curtainsided and box trailers have waned in the past seven years.
So, there is no surprise that reefers emerge from the pack as a leading used trailer. They fetch good money, and there is domestic demand coupled with demand from overseas for a good-quality product.
