can now take advanle of an Initiative designed to ke it easier for them to fit omissions-reduction technology.

Previously operators had to fund the initial purchase of the particulate traps themselves before applying to kansport Action for a grant of up to 75% of their cost under its CleanUp scheme. But under the meddled scheme trap manufacturers apply for the grants themselves and charge the operator just 25% of the actual cost.

David Hepworth, acting director of kansportAcUon, says It recognised that the amount of paperwork involved In the grant application was putting some people off: "By removing this barrier from the application process, obtaining a grant has become very simple and we hope that more haulage fleet managers will now be encouraged to fit emissions reduction equipment," he adds.

Three major technology manufacturers—Eminox, DInex and Engine Control Systems— have already received the grants, with a number of other companies close to signing up to the scheme.

Early indications are that the scheme is already proving popular, with Eminox and Dinex already reporting a good response: We believe this will have a positive Impact on the take up of CRTs," says Richard Green, business development manager at Emlnox. He adds that both John Lewis and 3883 have already purchased CRTs under the new scheme.
