Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Last year, which was a good year for the trailer industry, just over 200 drawbar units were sold; according to The European Truck Trailer Report 2005, one of the very few sources of statistics on trailer sales.

The report shows UK drawbar sales running at between 100 and 400 units a year with 2004 being a peak year after which sales have steadily declined. This compares with sales of semi-trailers, which have remained at around 18,500 units annually for the past six years.

In Germany, which is the only European market where drawbars are used in any numbers because of a long history of use, less than a third of the trailers sold last year were drawbars and the trend is for sales to continue to fall steadily in favour of semi-trailers.
