WEST SUSSEX-BASED The Page Group is hoping to reduce accidents by opting for the 1-Shift (Teal-box on three new Volvo EH12 Cikthetrotters. General operations director Dave Hawkins says the new box — a first for the company— could reduce driver fatigue because of the increased comfort.
MC:Truck & Bus, which is supplying the three XL 480s, is also training The Page Group's drivers in how to use the automated gearbox.
Hawkins adds that the main reason for replacing its existing 4x2 tractor units with the new 6x2s is that some customers are requiring heavier loads.
The EF112s will be used on general haulage, carrying a wide range of loads from timber flooring to garden plants.
