Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Fitting beforehand saves downtime and is livery-friendly. If you have a truck fitted with a replacement tank it might take up to two days, but this can be reduced if the tank is prepared in advance and instated on your own premises.

• It might pay to have the new vehicle supplied with a low-capacity transit tank and delivered straight to the point of conversion.

• It pays to have a small "red diesel" tank to power a fridge unit (red diesel costs about 18p a litre I.

• The maximum legal capacity of the connected fuel tanks is 1.500 litres. After this you are operating under AOR regulations and the vehicle could be classed as a fuel-carrying vehicle.

II Installing a 1,500-litre tank might cost up to 21,500, depending on the vehicle, the components that have to be moved and the downtime involved.
