• The first user of the Dennis/Trio combination is Boston Borough Council in Lincolnshire, which has started to use it on a fortnightly service covering 13,000 homes. About 40% of households took up the recycling scheme straight away, and 34 tonnes of waste were collected in the first two weeks. John Griffith, head of the council's contract services department, expects to see a figure of 25 tonnes a week before long.
Other authorities have looked at this vehicle, and also at similar designs: in West Oxfordshire a Holdall body is being used on a gas-powered ERF chassis with a low EC cab. Other enquiries have come from as far away as New Zealand.
