• Primarily to safeguard officers of the Lorry Driver of the Year Competition against claims, the LDoY is likely to become an association, limited by guarantee, next year.

This news, given at Tuesday's executive committee meeting, follows a revival of association plans first approved in principle at the 1968 agm. As well as limiting liability, the association would provide for full, associate and driver membership and might lead to social and other events linked to the competition.

Updated plans for the association and a formal constitution will be put to the 1973 agm this autumn.

Changes in regional competitions were announced this week. The Ayrshire contest will not now take place but a new centre in Buckinghamshire will hold its competition at Handley Cross, High Wycombe, probably on June 24. The Hampshire competition, provisionally on June 2, has moved from Portsmouth to Bordon Camp. The Northants contest will not be held this year, and former entrants are being invited to enter elsewhere.

Mr S. Fenn, of Express Dairy Co Ltd, has resigned from the national executive committee through ill health.
