in an instructive poster which has recently been issued by the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., the travelling public is informed boyv fares which the company received in 1925 were disbursed. The various headings show that wages accounted. for the biggest per centage, 63 lifer 'cent. ;stores and miscellaneous, 16 per cent,; petrol, 10 per cent.; taxes, etc., 5 per cent.; tyres, 2 per cent. It will thus be seen that 4 per cent. remains as a balance to meet reserves and interest on capital.

tA.E.C.s in Construction.

Amongst recent orders . which have been received by the Associated Equipment Co., Ltd.. Walthamstew, London, E.17, is a number for various goods and passenger models. . Amongst the former they have in hand seven 2-2-ii-ton chassis and three 3-4-ton chassis for the London and North,Eastern Railway. Co., five 2-24-ton chassis for Shell-Mex, Ltd. and four 4-5-ton chassis for the War Office. Amongst passenger models they are building three 30-seater buses for Ralph's Garages, two 50-seater doubledeckers with covered tops for the West Bridgford Urban District Council, and a 52-seater of somewhat similar pattern fur the Sheffield Corporation. The company have 40 vehicles of various types passing through their works for delivery to Buenos Aires, whilst a large number of individual vehicles is in hand for users in many classes of trade and industry.

Inst. A.E. meeting.

At a meeting .of. the Institution of Automobile . Engineers to be held on March 23rd, in the Council room of -the Society of Motor.. Manufacturers and Traders, 88, Pall Mall,. London,, S.W,1, Professor -J. J. Guest will read a paper on The Main Free Vibrations of an Autoca'r," which will be illustrated .by. models. A discussion will follow the paper, copies of which can be obtained from the secretary of .the Institution aL Watergate House, Adelphi; London, W.C.2.

Fuel storage Equipment.

We have received from the Dow_Son and Mason Gas Plant Co., Ltd., of Levenshulme, Manchester, a .copy of little booklet entitled. "Oil and Petrol Handling ,Simplified," which deals in a concise and informative manner with the oil and petrol storage equipment marketed by the company. The booklet contains details of the company's self. measuring pumps, which, it is stated, have been approved by the Standards Department of the Board of Trade. Information is also given an oil-storage tanks, which can he arranged in battery or single form. The barrel-emptying and can-filling pumping set will interest those who are concerned With faCilitating the economical pumping of oil and other liquids, whilst those .who deal with the transport of bulk supplies will be concerned with the company's semielliptical electrically welded tanks.

Prosecutions for Emitting Smoke.

With regard to the. smeke nuisance from road locomotives, the London County Council 'states that during 1925 there were 12 casesreported. There were seven prosecutions, in all of which convictions were 'secured and fines imposed totalled 14.

Woolwich Co-operative Motors.

The Royal Arsenal Co-operative Society has expended £1,569 on motor vehicles in the last -six months,. in addition to previous purchases totalling £4.6,471. But t.he fleet now stands at a nominal value of only £8,259, having

been depreciated at the rate of 20 per cent. per annum. . lathe past half-year the Society received £5,114 in connection with the operation 6f motor coaches. The expenses Of 'the--department were £2,228, and there was a surplus of £938.
