Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

At a meeting of the Eastbourne Curportation, Mr. II. W. Fovargue, the town clerk, reported that the borough treasurer had suggested that it should be recommended to the Ministry of Transport that the receipts from the Road Fund licences in respect of the motor omnibuses and lorries running exclu vely within the borough: should be paid over to the local authority concerned and form a first charge on the road fund. The suggestion was sent to Sir Reginald Hall, M.P., who forwarded a reply from the Minister stating that if every borough were to manage the proceeds of motor taxation as suggested there would be an end to any national policy of road maintenance and improvement. The borough treasurer was requested to obtain the views of other town councils on the suggestion.

Nottingham's New Bridge.

Those who have had experience of the difficulties attending present inadequate means of entering or leaving Nottingham on journeys north or south, necessitating the river Trent being crossed at the southernmost extremity of the city, will welcome the news that the work of widening the existing bridge at that point, which has been in progress for many months, has now so far advanced that it is anticipated that the extended structure will be thrown open to traffic in six or seven weeks' time. The bridge has been widened from 40 ft. to 80 ft., with footpaths 15 ft. wide in substitution for those of 7 ft. The new bridge is only exceeded in width by Blackfriars Bridge, which is 105 ft., and Westminster Bridge, 82 ft. 5 ins., and is equal in width to Vauxhall Bridge.

L.G.O. Vehicles for the Derby.

The London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., announce that already 40 of their vehicles have been reserved for taking private parties to the Denby. This early booking seems to indicate an even greater demand for the company's passenger vehicles than in previous years. Last year nearly 250 -L.G.O. vehicles were parked alongside the racecourse.
