The special committee appointed by the Glasgow Corporation to consider the provision of vehicles for the transport and collection of lef use in the Govan area, report 6' that it has now considered offers from Richard Garrett and Sons, Ltd., Walker Vehicles, Ltd. tractor. trailer system), and Walker Bros. (Wigan), Ltd. (Pagefield system). The committee recommends acceptance of the offer of Richard Garrett and Co„ Ltd., to supply 5-ton electric vehicles.

Recent Orders for Halleys.

Bailey's Industrial Motors, Ltd., Yoker, Glasgow, advise us 'that within a recent period of ten days, in addition to securing an order for a batch of 30cwt. chassis for the War Department, they have received further orders for 2-ton vehicles from Shell-Mex, Ltd.; the St. Cuthbert's Co-operative Association, Ltd.; Messrs. Fred. Barker, of Leices ter ; and the Cobridge Brick and Mari Co., Ltd. The Deptford Borough Council is buying two 4-ton Halley vehicles, whilst vehicles of a similar type are being built to the order of the United Co-operative Baking Society, Ltd., Glasgow.

On the passenger side the company have in hand buses of various carrying capacities for use by Waiter Alexander and Sons, Ltd., of Falkirk; Messrs. Meiklejohn and Harvey, Glasgow ; and Messes. William Dunlop, of Greenock. They have also received orders for fire-engines from the West Renfresvshire Brigade and from the St. Annes-on-Sea Brigade.

Bowden Developments.

We are advised by the Bowden Brake Co., Ltd., Tyseley, Birmingham, that they have discontinued the manufacture of Bowden spring seats and Bowden saloon bodies under the H. A. Lamplugh patents. These have been taken over by Mr. H. A. Lamplugh, and inquiries concerning -them should be sent direct to bins at 35, St. Bernard's Road, Olton, Warwickshire. The only exception is the manufacture of pillion sprieg seats.

Concreting Chelsea Embankment.

With the exception of a section of wood paving in the vicinity of Apothecaries' Garden, Chelsea Embankment, London, is to be relaid with concrete, and the Ministry of Transport is to contribute one-half the cost of relaying this highway. Mr. W. R. Manning, A.M.I.C.E., engineer and surveyor to the Borough of Chelsea, states that the new surfacing will be 9 ins, thick and capable of carrying. the heaviest traffic.
