Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A "BID AND BUY"weekend with a barbecue and refreshments at Lympne,Kentbased Eurowise Truck and Van resulted in eight trucks sold and 11 more deals about to be completed at the time of writing."We invited customers along to make us an offer for our vehicles but because it wasn't an auction, everything was backed by a 12-month RAC warranty," says Eurowise's Peter Hassan.

"If the offer was sensible, then we were able to do business on the spot because we had finance company representatives here. Some buyers brought along their part-exchanges."

The event provoked a considerable response. "On the Sunday we officially opened at 10am but people were already arriving at 9am," says Hassan. "We cooked 240 burgers and sausages over the two days, but we only got through one case of beer. Everybody was drinking tea or coffee, which I guess was pretty sensible."

Recognising that hauliers would be bringing along their families, Hassan also arranged for free tickets to the Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and Gardens, just 50 yards from the site.

The event was heavily promoted in the trade press and on local radio. "I'm not convinced the radio advertising was worthwhile, although we had a lot of calls from people who said that they'd heard the ad," he says.

Eurowise attracted customers from way beyond Kent, including one operator who arrived from Edinburgh armed with a banker's draft."It goes to show that people will travel a long way if you've got what they're looking for," says Hassan.

Only one thing marred the weekend: "The M25 near us was suddenly closed on the Saturday, and obviously that affected people who were trying to get here.

"That aside, the event was a big success. I don't think it's done us any harm at all and we're thinking about doing it annually."
