Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Commercial Motor went along to British Car Auctions weekly sale at

Belle Vue, Manchester, where Duncan Ward predicted the price of six vans as they went under the hammer.

The process is simple enough: Commercial Motor asked Duncan Ward to select six vehicles and price them up before the auction; then we sat back to see how well his estimate matched the real bids British CarAuctions' site at Belle Vue. Manchester, hosts van auctions everyWednesday. This week stood out with the debut of new shape Vauxhall Combos from the Royal Mail fleet, superseding the old Ford Escorts.

Ward certainly had plenty of lots to choose from; there were 300 units up for grabs at the 1 June auction. He felt he had to include the Combo among his lots: a bold choice as these were the first Royal Mail Combos lobe directly re-marketed.

We enjoy putting an auctioneer under the spotlight, but there is a serious side to this exercise. Auctioneering isn't just about shouting loudly, waving a hammer around and making sure you spot all those nods, winks and twitching eyebrows: they are expected to price vehicles for vendors to help ensure a sale, as well as sourcing quality products logo before an ever demanding buyer.

So how did this month's guest auctioneer perform on the day?
