Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Foden over the last 17 years and am extremely sad to see the end of a brand like that. It had a loyal but small following with a team of people always willing to look after its customers."

Leon Gull, managing director at Sheffield-based John Owen Aggregates runs over 50 Fodens. He assumed Daf and Foden would one day become the same vehicle: "In my opinion as long as they continue to make the best trucks it will be technology moving forward. Foden had the best payload and the best back-up."

Brian Simons from Sherburn in Elmet-based GW Sissons & Son says it has cancelled its order for 12 new Foden tractor units, which would have made its 70strong fleet exclusively Foden. Sissons adds: "I've always liked the fact they were British made, which was very important to us. We have always been a fan of Cummins engines but I guess those days have gone too. Foden has always been an excellent brand: reliable, fuel efficient and the drivers have loved them."

"I'm absolutely gutted," says John Hourigan, managing director at Allied Plant, based in Castleford. The family-run company has seven Fodens in a fleet of 11 trucks, all with Caterpillar engines. "We had a further two on order, they've now been cancelled. The Foden is a great piece of machinery for our operation; we've been well supported by our dealer, Pelican Engineering, over the past umpteen years. I won't be buying Dafs and I've had the Scania and Volvo dealers in."
