Dealing with Mr. Hanlon's revocation of the company's A licence and the entire rejection of Dent's application for a new licence. Sir Hubert said that the Licensing Authority had made an error , of law. He had taken into account matters which he was not entitled to deal with in reaching his decision. BUS TAKE-OVER

THE bus operating concern of Hunter and Nelson, Arbroath, has been taken over by Mr. Tom Alexander, who runs a bus company in Sheffield and owns the Dundee bus firm of McGibbon's. He is related to Mr. Walter Alexander. of W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd.

Additional Bedford Gearbox Option

IN last week's issue it was reported that

I the Bedford-Yeates coach which completed the return journey between London and Moscow at an average speed of 51.6 m.p.h. was equipped with a five-speed overdrive-top gearbox. This unit is a recently introduced alternative version of the direct-top gearbox which has been available for some time with Bedford 300-cu.-in. diesel and petrol engines, or Leyland 0.350 diesel engines.

This gearbox is available only in certain Bedford chassis, particularly coach models, and already has been ordered by several British operators. Its forward ratios are 6.3, 3.36, 1.83, 1 and 0.82 to 1, with reverse gearing of 5.76 to 1.

Transport Take-over

DUSH TRANSPORT, of Elm High 1--) Road. Wisbech, Cambs, has been taken over by Knowles Transport, Ltd., of Wimblington, Cambs. Mr. N. Bush, principal of Bush Transport, is retiring after 35 years in the haulage business and the new owners will continue the Elm High Road depot under the name of Knowles Transport, Ltd., Wisbecb depot.

The business of Knowles Transport, Ltd., was founded in 1931 by Mr. Gerald Knowles, the present governing director, when he was 17, with one lorry. He now has two sons in the business, and 42 drivers and maintenance and office staff.
